Pricing model
How a print is priced in rupees in India: the all in rate per gram, the quality multiplier, gram rounding, bulk breaks, colour and the second AMS fee, Priority print, support removal and delivery, with a worked example.
A print is priced by weight. One all in rupee rate per gram covers the filament and the normal machine time, billable weight rounds up to the whole gram, and there is no minimum per part. Prints for India are made in India by our print partner and delivered across India. This page gives you the whole calculation, so you can work out your own price before you upload anything.
The formula#
billable grams = ceil(grams)
per part = billable grams x rate per gram x quality factor
order subtotal = per part x quantity x bulk factor
delivery = ₹79, or free when the order subtotal is ₹999 or more
order total = order subtotal + delivery + Priority print and support removal, if chosenEverything else on this page is either where the grams come from or which number goes into which slot. Nothing is added for setup, file handling, supports or brim: supports and brim are plastic, so they arrive as grams and are paid for as grams. Taking the supports off afterwards is optional: support removal, ₹200 once per order if you choose it on /in/print.
Three charges sit outside the per gram part and only appear when they apply: the ₹500 second AMS fee for a print in 5 or more colours, below; Priority print, 10% of the items and never less than ₹200, once per order if you choose it, which prints the order in 1 to 2 business days instead of 1 to 3; and support removal, ₹200 once per order. Normal print is included. None of them is discounted or counted toward free delivery.
Rate per gram#
| Material | Rate per gram | Density |
|---|---|---|
| PLA | ₹8/g | 1.26 g/cm³ |
| PETG | ₹8/g | 1.27 g/cm³ |
| ABS | ₹10/g | 1.04 g/cm³ |
| ASA | ₹10/g | 1.07 g/cm³ |
| Flexible TPU | ₹12/g | 1.24 g/cm³ |
Density is part of the price, not a footnote. The same model in ABS weighs about 18% less than in PETG, so although ABS is ₹10/g against PETG's ₹8/g, it costs only a little more to print. See /in/docs/materials for what each plastic is actually good for.
Quality factor#
| Quality | Layer height | Price factor | Effect on a ₹8/g material |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 0.2 mm | 1.00 | ₹8/g |
| Premium | 0.1 mm | 1.75 | ₹14/g |
Premium halves the layer height, which roughly doubles the machine time for the same weight of plastic. The factor multiplies the per gram charge; it does not add an hourly line.
Where the grams come from#
Two sources, and the quote says which one it used. Measured always beats modelled.
- Measured: the file is sliced by OrcaSlicer on a real Bambu printer profile, and the filament volume it reports is converted to grams with the material's density. TPU is measured on a TPU profile; the other plastics on Bambu PLA Basic. This is what the quote uses wherever a slice can be run. It takes ten seconds to a minute, so the first number on the page may still be the estimate.
- Estimated: a geometric fallback used before a slice lands: model volume x (0.30 + 0.70 x infill), then x density. The 0.30 is the solid perimeter walls; infill fills the rest. Requested infill defaults to 20%.
- A plate you sliced yourself (a .3mf or .gcode.3mf plate export) is always measured: the grams and hours come out of the file's own header, and they already contain every purge, support and brim.
- A print in colour is always measured too: a project is sliced in its colours, and that slice's grams and hours are the price.
Rounding, and no minimum#
- Billable weight rounds UP to the whole gram, like postage. 39.92 g bills as 40 g.
- There is no minimum per part in India. A 3 g PLA keychain is 3 x ₹8 = ₹24, and ten of them are ₹216 after the 10% bulk break.
Worked example#
A part measuring 60 x 40 x 30 mm, PLA, Standard quality, 20% infill, one piece, delivered in India. Every step below is arithmetic you can repeat.
- 1Start from volume
An uploaded mesh gives its real volume. To keep the arithmetic short, this example uses the bounding box: 60 x 40 x 30 mm = 72,000 mm³ = 72 cm³.
text60 x 40 x 30 / 1000 = 72 cm3 - 2Apply walls and infill
30% of the volume is solid wall; the remaining 70% is filled to the requested infill.
text72 x (0.30 + 0.70 x 0.20) = 31.68 cm3 - 3Convert to weight
Multiply by the density of PLA, 1.26 g/cm³.
text31.68 x 1.26 = 39.92 g - 4Round up
Billable weight is a whole number of grams.
textceil(39.92) = 40 g - 5Apply the rate and the quality factor
PLA is ₹8/g and Standard quality is 1.00.
text40 x ₹8 x 1.00 = ₹320 per part - 6Multiply by quantity, then add delivery
One piece gets no bulk discount, and delivery is ₹79 because the order is under ₹999.
text₹320 x 1 x 1.00 = ₹320 ₹320 + ₹79 = ₹399
| The same part, ordered | Arithmetic | Delivery | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 piece, Premium 0.1 mm | 40 x ₹8 x 1.75 = ₹560 | ₹79 | ₹639 |
| 1 piece in ABS | 31.68 x 1.04 = 32.95 g, billed as 33 g; 33 x ₹10 = ₹330 | ₹79 | ₹409 |
| 1 piece with Priority print | ₹320 + Priority print, 10% of the items but at least ₹200: ₹200 | ₹79 | ₹599 |
| 3 pieces | ₹320 x 3 x 1.00 = ₹960 | ₹79 | ₹1,039 |
| 5 pieces | ₹320 x 5 x 0.95 = ₹1,520 | Free | ₹1,520 |
| 10 pieces | ₹320 x 10 x 0.90 = ₹2,880 | Free | ₹2,880 |
A box is an upper bound: a real model inside that box weighs less. Upload the file at /in/print for a quote from the model itself, or work from a weight you already know at /in/3d-printing-cost.
Quantity and bulk#
| Pieces of the same file | Factor | Discount |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 4 | 1.00 | none |
| 5 to 9 | 0.95 | 5% off |
| 10 or more | 0.90 | 10% off |
Multi colour#
A print in colour is priced from a real slice of it in those colours, never from an estimate. There are two ways to get one: a plate you sliced yourself, priced from its own header, and a Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer project, which we slice plate by plate in its own colours. In both cases the purge and the filament change time are already inside the measured grams and hours, so nothing is added on top for them. Charging them twice would be an overcharge.
What colour does change is the rate per gram: +₹0.6/g at two colours and +₹0.4/g for each colour after (PLA ₹8.6, ₹9 and ₹9.4 for two, three and four). The same steps apply to every material that prints in colour (ASA is ₹10.6/g at two colours), and the quality factor multiplies the whole rate. A colour print spends hours swapping and purging that a one colour print of the same weight does not, so 100 g of PLA is ₹800 in one colour and ₹900 in three.
Colours are counted by what prints. A filament the file assigns but the slicer never feeds is not counted and not charged for. Up to eight colours print, which is two AMS units. On a plate you sliced yourself, measured hours far beyond what its weight implies, which is filament change time, are charged at ₹30 an hour.
| Colours that print | Added to the order line |
|---|---|
| 1 to 4 | Nothing |
| 5 to 8 | ₹500 second AMS fee, once per order line whatever the quantity |
A colour project is priced at 100% scale and standard quality, at the rate of the base plastic its own filaments name (a plate in PLA-CF is priced as PLA), because that is what its slice measured; those controls are locked on /in/print while colour is chosen. See /in/docs/studio/multi-color for how colours are checked.
Delivery#
| Where | Delivery | Free from |
|---|---|---|
| Anywhere in India | ₹79 | ₹999 order subtotal |
Delivery is charged once per order, not per part. Normal print is printed in 1 to 3 business days, then delivered in 3 to 7 days. Priority print (₹200, or 10% of the items when that is more) is printed in 1 to 2 business days, then delivered in the same 3 to 7 days. There is one delivery service: no express, no international delivery and no pickup.

Questions
How is the price of a 3D print calculated in India?
Billable grams, rounded up to the whole gram, times the material's all in rupee rate per gram, times the quality factor (1.00 at 0.2mm layers, 1.75 at 0.1mm). There is no minimum per part. Delivery is ₹79 per order and free on orders from ₹999, and Priority print and support removal are added if you choose them.
What is the 3D printing price per gram in India?
PLA and PETG are ₹8/g, ABS and ASA ₹10/g, and Flexible TPU ₹12/g, at Standard quality. Premium quality costs 1.75 times that.
Does the per gram rate include machine time?
Yes. The rate is all in: filament and normal machine time in one number. Machine time is billed separately in one case only: a plate you sliced yourself whose measured hours far exceed what its weight implies, usually from colour changes, where the extra hours are charged at ₹30 an hour.
Why is my quote a whole number of grams?
Billable weight rounds up to the whole gram, like postage. It also keeps the quote in step with Bambu Studio, which displays whole grams, so the weight you were quoted against is the weight you are charged for.
How do I pay for a print in India?
There is no checkout in India yet. After the instant quote on /in/print, Request this print opens a short form. We reply by email with the final price and how to pay, and nothing is charged when you send the request.
