The reasons

Why choose us

Each one links to the page that shows it working, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

  • Published rates, priced from your file

In our stock colours each plastic has one published rate per gram, normal machine time included: PLA, PETG and ABS $0.12/g; ASA $0.14/g; Flexible TPU $0.25/g. The grams come from slicing your actual file in OrcaSlicer on Bambu Lab’s own profile for our H2S printers. What can add to a price, such as more colours, finer layers or a colour we do not stock, is listed on the pricing page.

  • Our own printers, in Austin

Every part is printed on Bambu Lab H2S and P2S printers we own, in Austin, Texas, and nothing is sent to another shop. We print PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and Flexible TPU in 12 stock colours, on plates up to 340×320×340mm.

    How the farm works →
  • A ship date you choose

Normal print ships in 4 to 5 business days. Priority print ships in 1 to 2 business days for $5, or 10% of the items when that is more, and is printed ahead of normal orders. On the website you pick at checkout; a quotation states its own delivery.

  • Shipping priced up front

Standard US shipping is $7.00, typically 4 to 6 business days in transit, and free when the goods in your cart come to $49.50 or more. Express is $15.00, typically 2 to 3 business days, and shipping to 23 other countries is $30.00 flat.

    Shipping rates and times →
  • Checked before it prints

An uploaded file is measured and refused if it does not fit the plate. Every plate is scanned for unsafe commands and temperatures before it reaches a printer, and a job cannot be queued onto the wrong plastic unless the operator ticks an acknowledgement naming both.

    Every check, in order →
  • A person checks every part

A person looks at every part as it comes off the plate and again as it is packed. A print that fails on our machine is printed again at our cost, and if a part arrives wrong, a person decides on a reprint or a refund.

  • Follow every stage by email

Every website order, including one paid through a quotation’s payment link, gets its own number once it is paid, then an email when it is queued, printed, packed, shipped and delivered. The shipped email carries the tracking link, and your orders page keeps the history and a PDF statement.

    How tracking works →
  • Ready for repeat and volume work

Copies of one part ordered together through Print & Ship or the print API take 5% off from 5 copies and 10% off from 10 copies. Software can order the same part again through the API, and AI agents can quote and order through our MCP server.

    Batch and repeat orders →
  • Multicolour from your own project

Upload a Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer project, MakerWorld downloads included, and we print each plate in its own colours, priced from a slice in those colours with the purge included. Every printer carries an AMS for up to 4 colours. A print in 5 to 8 colours needs a second AMS, at $25.00 an order line, and waits in the queue while no printer has one loaded.

How a quotation becomes a parcel

  1. 1

    Your quotation

It lists each line with its quantity and price, the total and the terms for that order. Ask about anything on it before you pay.
  2. 2

    A payment link

Say yes and we send a payment link on x3dstudios.com. It shows exactly what was agreed, needs no account, does not expire and can be paid once. Stripe takes the payment.
  3. 3

    Printed on our farm

Paying creates your order with its own order number, and we queue it on our printers in Austin. Every plate is checked before it prints and every part is looked at before it is packed.
  4. 4

    Emails until it arrives

You get an email when it is queued, printed, packed, shipped and delivered. The shipped email carries the tracking link.

A quotation can carry its own terms, such as a delivery date, how payment is split, or when an order can be cancelled or a claim made. Where it does, those terms apply to that order. Questions about one? Reply to the email it came in, or call +1 (512) 850-4703.

Straight answers

When we are not the right fit

Better to know now than after you have paid.

  • We print FDM plastic only: no resin, metal, powder or CNC.
  • One piece can be up to 340×320×340mm. Anything bigger has to be split into parts before you upload it.
  • We do not measure finished parts or publish a tolerance. If a dimension has to fit, order one part first and check it.

Questions to ask before you say yes

Why should I choose X3D Studios for a 3D print?

Because what we say can be checked. The price is worked out from published rates and the weight of a real slice of your file. The parts are printed on printers we own in Austin, Texas, a person looks at every part before it ships, and a print that fails on our machine is printed again at our cost.

Can I compare my quotation with the website price?

Yes. Upload the same file at /print and it is sliced and priced at the published rates, with no account. In stock colours that is PLA, PETG and ABS $0.12/g; ASA $0.14/g; Flexible TPU $0.25/g, and each part costs at least $1.00. A quotation is written for your order, so it can differ from that price where it covers more than the website sells, such as another material, a large run or a set delivery date. Its own lines and terms are what apply to that order, and you can ask us about any line before you pay.

How is the price worked out?

Billable grams, rounded up to the whole gram, times the plastic's rate, which includes the normal machine time. The grams come from slicing your file in OrcaSlicer on Bambu Lab's own profile for our H2S printers, so you pay for the plastic the slice lays down. Premium quality, at 0.1mm layers, costs 1.75x the rate. If you ask for more than 35% infill, the price is worked out from the model's volume instead, because our slice runs at a lighter fill. A print in more than one colour pays a higher rate per gram, and one in 5 or more colours adds $25.00 for the second AMS it needs. A colour we have to buy a spool for adds $15.00 for that spool, waived when the goods come to more than $100.00. /docs/pricing shows every line.

How fast will my order ship?

You choose at checkout on the website. Normal print ships in 4 to 5 business days. Priority print ($5, or 10% of the items when that is more) ships in 1 to 2 business days and is printed ahead of normal orders. The carrier then typically takes 4 to 6 business days on standard US shipping, or 2 to 3 on express. A plate that has to be printed again pushes the date out, and so does a print in 5 or more colours while no printer has a second AMS loaded. The live lead time on /farm shows how busy the printers are right now. Where a quotation states its own delivery terms, those apply to that order.

What does shipping cost?

Standard US shipping is $7.00, typically 4 to 6 business days in transit, and free when the goods in your cart come to $49.50 or more. Express is $15.00, typically 2 to 3 business days, and is never free. International is $30.00 flat to 23 countries, free from $500.00. Print & Ship on /print always adds the postage for the destination you pick, and a quotation shows the shipping agreed for it.

What happens if a print goes wrong?

A plate that fails on our machine is printed again at our cost; what it costs you is time, because a reprint is not in the lead time. If a part arrives wrong, tell us through /contact with your order number and a photo, and a person decides on a reprint or a refund. Layer lines, the seam and support marks are normal for FDM and are not defects; /docs/farm/quality lists what is.

Do you inspect every part?

A person looks at every part when it comes off the plate and again when it is packed. We do not measure finished parts or publish a tolerance, so if a dimension has to fit something, order one part first and check it before you order the rest.

Who will I talk to?

A person on our team. The phone, +1 (512) 850-4703, is answered 8AM to 7:30PM daily, and email, support tickets and the contact form at /contact get a reply within 24 hours.

Can I order the same part again later?

Yes. Upload it again at /print, or let software do it: the print API takes a file and an address and bills the card on file (/docs/api), and AI agents can quote and order through our MCP server (/docs/api/mcp). Copies of one part ordered together through Print & Ship or the API take 5% off from 5 copies and 10% off from 10 copies, and a printer can be reserved at $1.50 an hour for a recurring run.
