How Custom 3D Printing Works

Getting a custom 3D print from X3D Studios is as simple as three steps. No CAD expertise required — just upload your file and we handle the rest, from slicing to shipping.

1

Upload your 3D model

Upload an STL or 3MF file. Don't have a file? Use our AI 3D generator to create one from a text prompt or a photo — a Fast Draft takes about half a minute.

2

Choose material & color

Select from PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, or flexible TPU. Pick from 12 stock colours, or any other colour as a custom spool. The price comes from slicing your actual file.

3

We print & ship

Your order goes to our print partner in India. Normal print is printed in 1 to 3 business days, or choose Priority print, then it is delivered in 3 to 7 days.

Materials Comparison

Pricing

Our pricing is simple and transparent — no hidden fees. One per-gram rate covers material and machine time. The final price is calculated from your model's actual weight and displayed before you pay. The one fixed charge is for colour: a print using 5 or more colours adds ₹500 once per order line, for the second AMS unit it needs, and it is shown in the price before you pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does 3D printing cost per gram?

The per-gram rate is all-in, material and machine time together: PLA and PETG ₹8/g; ABS and ASA ₹10/g; Flexible TPU ₹12/g. A 21 g PLA part is 21 × ₹8 = ₹168. Premium · 0.1mm costs 1.75x the rate. A colour outside our 12 stock colours is the material's own rate, the same as a stock colour, and a print in 5 or more colours adds ₹500 once per order line. The grams come from slicing your actual file, so upload it at /in/print for the real figure, or estimate it from a weight at /in/3d-printing-cost.

Is there a minimum order?

No order minimum and no setup fee. One part is a normal order, priced by its weight.

Do I need an account to see a price?

No. Upload STL or 3MF at /in/print and the price is shown without signing in. To order, send the request from the same page: we reply by email with the final price and how to pay.

How long will my print take?

You choose when you order. Normal print is printed in 1 to 3 business days; Priority print (₹200, or 10% of the items when that is more) in 1 to 2. Then it is delivered in 3 to 7 days.

How is shipping charged?

Delivery anywhere in India is ₹79, and free on orders from ₹999. It takes 3 to 7 days after printing, and the total is shown before you send the request.

What file formats do you accept?

STL and 3MF meshes, plus an already-sliced Bambu or Orca plate exported as .gcode.3mf. GLB and OBJ are not accepted for printing: export the model as STL or 3MF first, which every CAD and mesh tool can do. A Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer project saved as .3mf is accepted too, and can be printed in the colours you set up in it. No file at all? The AI generator at /in/design makes a printable model from a text description or a photo.

Can you print my Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or MakerWorld project in its colours?

Yes. Upload the project .3mf as you saved or downloaded it, with its filaments assigned and any painting done. We slice each plate in those colours and price it from that slice, purge and filament changes included, and you can always choose one colour instead. A print using 5 or more colours adds ₹500 once for the second AMS unit. Many models shared on MakerWorld or Printables are licensed for personal use only, so check the licence before you order copies to sell.

What can't you print?

We print FDM (filament) only, in PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, Flexible TPU. We do not offer resin (SLA), powder (SLS or MJF), metal or CNC. A part too big for one plate has to be split into pieces. OBJ files are not accepted for printing, so export STL or 3MF instead.

PLA vs PETG: which should I choose?

PLA is best for decorative items, prototypes, and anything that won't be exposed to heat or impact. PETG is tougher, slightly flexible and handles heat and sunlight better: choose it for functional parts, outdoor use, or items that need to take some stress. PLA gives the smoother finish. /docs/materials compares all five.

Do you do bulk or batch printing?

Yes. The quote applies volume pricing automatically: 5% off from 5 units, 10% off from 10 units, taken off the whole line. A larger recurring run is quoted directly: /in/bulk-3d-printing covers batch work and takes the enquiry.
