AI 3D Model Generator

Type a prompt, generate a 3D model, and receive a server-side mesh review before checkout. The review checks geometry, dimensions, estimated wall thickness, and overhangs; it does not replace a production engineering review.

How It Works

1

Describe your model

Type a text prompt or upload a reference image. Our AI understands natural language descriptions of 3D objects. How the studio works, or start from text to STL or photo to 3D print.

2

AI generates & validates

The pipeline reviews mesh integrity, server-computed dimensions, estimated wall thickness, and overhangs. A failed or unavailable review is blocked from print checkout.

3

Export or print

Download in STL, OBJ, or 3MF — or send it straight to our print farm in Austin, Texas. Normal print ships in 4–5 business days, Priority print in 1–2; the live lead time shows how busy the printers are.

Frequently Asked Questions

What file formats can I export?

STL, OBJ and 3MF. Every generated model is repaired (welded, holes filled, winding fixed, auto-oriented) and receives a server-side review before it can be ordered through X3D, and a model that fails the review can still be downloaded and fixed yourself.

How long does it take to generate a 3D model?

A Fast Draft from a text prompt takes about 20 to 30 seconds. Hi-Fi takes about 4 to 5 minutes, and a photo about 45 to 90 seconds, though Tripo, which photos use on Auto, can take several minutes, as Multi-view always does. Generation runs as a background job, so you can close the tab and the result is waiting when you come back. /docs/studio/design has the detail.

Is there a free tier?

A new account starts with 5 generation credits. A Fast Draft from a text prompt costs 1 credit and Hi-Fi 2; a photo adds 1. Credit packs and the Maker and Pro Studio plans are on /pricing. Ordering a print never spends a credit — prints are priced in dollars by weight.

How does the printability review work?

X3D checks mesh integrity, dimensions, estimated wall thickness, and overhangs. The review is advisory; models with a failed or unavailable result cannot be sent to checkout.

How is this different from Meshy or Tripo?

Most AI 3D generators stop at the mesh. X3D Studios checks the model for printability, then prints it on our own farm in Austin and ships it — prompt to physical object in one place. Meshy vs Tripo vs X3D: Which AI Makes Printable Models? compares the three on printable output.

Can I upload a reference image?

Yes. Upload a photo or sketch, a photo plus a description, or 2 to 4 photos of one object, and the AI generates a 3D model from it. The AI has to invent the sides the camera never saw, so a likeness is not guaranteed. /photo-to-3d-print sets out what it costs and what to expect, /docs/studio/image-to-3d explains which photos work best, and Image to 3D Model: Turn Any Photo into a Real 3D Print and Custom Figurine From a Photo: How Image-to-3D Works in 2026 walk through it end to end.

How much does 3D printing cost per gram?

The per-gram rate is all-in, material and machine time together: PLA, PETG and ABS $0.12/g; ASA $0.14/g; Flexible TPU $0.25/g. A 21 g PLA part is 21 × $0.12 = $2.52. Premium · 0.1mm costs 1.75x the rate. A colour outside our 12 stock colours is $0.20/g (Flexible TPU keeps its own $0.25/g), and a print in 5 or more colours adds $25.00 once per order line. The grams come from slicing your actual file, so upload it at /print for the real figure, or estimate it from a weight at /3d-print-cost-calculator.

How long will my print take?

You choose at checkout. Normal print ships in 4–5 business days; Priority print ($5, or 10% of the items when that is more) ships in 1–2. Then transit: US standard is 4–6 business days and express 2–3 business days. For a big batch, the live lead time on /farm shows how busy the printers are right now.
